BABY & MOJO

Baby & Mojo are new arrivals at Safe Haven Horse Rescue too!!! They have been on the 'waiting list' to come in when, their owner was no longer able to care for them. She called Linda R. two weeks ago & said it was time! Steve drove up to the mountains & brought these two little cuties home!!! Sorry that the pic of Mojo, (the donkey) is so dark. I tried to get a better one But, he must have thought my phone was a 'cookie', & would not pose far enough away for pics!!!! Take my word for it, HE is a CUTEY!There is a pic of him & Baby on Safe Haven's web site that is real nice, I tried to transfer it here but it comes in really, really, small! SO! www.safehavenhorserescue.org to see.................

Look at this face! All the regular Volunteers at Safe Haven are saying she looks like Charley!!! I was gonna pull a 'fast one' on Lynne B. & send her this pic & say Oh OH........they have bathe Charley &&&& he SHRUNK!!!!! But, she wouldn't have fell for that, so I didn't!!!!!
Baby & Mojo have been with the little old Lady for the last 7 years &, being the responsible horsey & donkey owner, she made arrangement for their care!!!! YEAH!!! for her!!! & a BIG Thank TO her!!!!! The little ones are up for adoption &&& I think they have been reserved all ready!! I'll let ya know, when it is official!!!!
Hope your day is a good one!!!!! Will pat, hug, & smooch these cutie patooties for ya!

Michael K's pics of Deena & Money

Michael K. was there to take pictures of our two new horses too, on Saturday. He has taken full body shots of Deena, & also, Money. We are suppose to have rain here today, & the wind is just a rippin' here right now, blankets were put on the horses late yesterday afternoon, in preparation of this storm.
Here is Money, he has been a roping horse in his younger years. He looks pretty darn sad too! We must remember that he is in a new place, & doesn't realize yet, that he is at Safe Haven!!! He will know in a few short days, that 'cookies'(horse treats), carrots, apples, pats, hugs, & kisses on the nose, proper care, & horsey knowledge, are in never ending supply!!!!!
Money & Deena, are able to see each other in their respective pens, so are happy to know that each other is still close. Money was very upset & looking for Deena at feeding time on Sat. as he could not SEE Deena, So, Deena's big ole feeder was pick up & moved to the part of her pen so Money could see her! Thank You, Bonnie & Carlie!
Money has some 'front end' problems, & seeing as he's been a roping horse, I'm sure he does!!! Us, humans get carpal tunnel, & horses get ring bone & neuvichuler! We don't know which one yet. I'll keep ya posted on that!
Recently Safe Haven, has been able to purchase, Equi Pride, supplement again! YEAH! It is an outstanding, good for just about everything under the sun, supplement!!!!! We used it for years, & then there was no supplier out here in Ca. Thank goodness, it has been brought back!!! Here is the web site if you would like to check this supplement out; www.equipride.biz. Lot's of testimonies available.
Sure hope to see out to the ranch soon. Thank You for the pics, Michael!

Another EMACIATED MARE!!! DEENA

Saturday, March 27th, 2010 brought another emaciated mare to Safe Haven Horse Rescue! This is another TEACUP SYNDROME!!!!!! This is just ridiculous!!!! What the H---L is wrong with these people!!!!!! Deena in her younger years, was a world class, Western Pleasure Show Horse!!! At this time, I cannot share the details of this horse, all I can tell you is; Grrrrrr...................

We wormed her & let her graze in the green area for the afternoon, with the 'Chubby' Gelding she came in with!!!! It just breaks your heart to see this beautiful girl in such bad shape! Safe Haven Volunteers, groomed her up best as they could, & noticed that she is covered in Rain Rot on that teacup shelf!!! It was just too cold to bathe her yesterday, & today we have Rain coming in! For 3 days, they say, let's hope the weatherman is WRONG!!! As you can see, she is VERY SKINNY!!! Linda R. says she is a good, 500lbs UNDER WEIGHT!!! This poor old mare ( late twenties) has been out in the pasture thru all the bad weather we have had here in No. Cal. this winter!!! More Grrrrr's!!! We will be putting a blanket on her this afternoon, & will be keeping a close eye on those pointy hips of hers!!! I just can't wrap my head around on HOW, a so called human being can do this to any animal!!! Any way, back to yesterday, we moved horses around & put the two in separate pens, but they could still see each other, & then, after a full day of grazing, she was a little uncomfortable in the tummy!!! Linda R. got her stethoscope out & she had rockin' & rollin' gut sounds! So, Linda R. knew she would be okay, & that all the gentle green grass, was soft & would work her way to the poop chute! & I'm happy to report, that Linda R. called this morning to say; that Deena had lot's of nice piles in her pen this morning!!! YEAH......... I know you all will be just abhorred at the picture of her back end, but we need to have it shown!!!! Sorry, if it shocks you, & know it will make you all pretty upset!! Sure does us, at Safe Haven Horse Rescue!!!! Can only think, & ask WHY????????????
Bye for now,
Linda C.

Sessie meets Dr. Gray

Safe Haven Horse Rescue took Sessie into the Cottonwood Vet Clinic, so Dr. Gray could do some more blood work on her & to get his opinion of her, on & off fevers! Linda R. brought ALL the paperwork & blood test results we have on Sessie. Dr. Gray is going over her paperwork, he noticed that her fibrogen levels are low,(I'm sorry I don't have all the right wordage that he used, but will get up to speed on that asap) & he knows the people who bred Sessie & he even has a 1/2 sister to her!!!!! Small world! She had a VERY sharp point on one of her back teeth, so Dr. Gray is fixing that!!!! Sessie was VERY GOOD!
Yes, Dr. Gray checked her over from end to end!!!! He told us that her ovaries were 'cycling' & that is unusual for a mare in this condition!!! He took a sample of her poop & had it checked for sand & also some checked for blood. She did not have any blood in her stool, but it did show a boat load of worms!!!! So he prescribed a 'power pac' wormer that you give for 5 days in a row!!! We were all worried, was it so harsh that it would give her ulcers???? Dr. Gray said that actually it is called the poorman's ulcer guard, as it is full of the ulcer guard & is way cheaper than buying the ulcer guard stuff itself!!!
Happy to report that, Sessie is feeling much better, even after one dose!!! Steve said she was talkin' & walkin' all around him on Thursday morning! Yeah! At the Vets, Sessie was in this outdoor stall for awhile & let me tell ya! She did NOT LIKE that at ALL! She started to weave!!! Poor baby Girl!
Last night Safe Haven had an x-tra meeting for our up coming Play Day Fundraiser, & Holly reported, (she works @ the Vets) that some of the blood work had come back. She said that it showed Sessie having a WEAK positive for Strep! So far they have ruled out, pigeon fever, & strangles!!!! that's good! & we are still waiting for the cogins test results. Will keep you all posted on the total results of the blood work, as the results come in!

Linda C.

Cori & Minime!

Cori, has been taking little Minime out for every Saturday, so she is getting use to being brushed!!!! So Cori decided that it was MUCH easier to do the brushing if she was more on Minime's level!!!!!! Guess she got a little tired of 'standing on her head' to brush her! Aren't they just the cutest?????? You can see Tootsie in the back left of the pic! She was groomed up too!
Well, this blog is not working in the same old manner of the past & I DON'T KNOW WHY!!!! I will keep at it till I can figure out why!
Bye for now,

Sessie out to graze, & she gets a BATH!!!

This morning, Linda R. took Sessie out of her pen & put her in the little grazing area w/ the 'fake' hot wire!!! She got to be out there yesterday too w/ Saber. Today she figured out that it was not HOT hot wire & we had to go get her!!!!! she had the wire on top of her & a leg thru it !!!! So, Linda R. brought her out of there & gave her to Bonnie, to give her a bath, as it was a wonderfully warm day in the sun today!!!!!! I like this picture of her, But, I like the next one BETTER!!!!!
NOW this is a picture!!!!! Her ears are up & she is looking RIGHT AT the CAMERA!!!! SWEET!!!!!! & she's so SHINY!!!!! Bet she feels alot better!
She has a 'fungus among us' so she got a Betadine bath today!!!! YEAH...., & she has an appointment at Cottonwood Vets, on Wednesday @ 9:00 AM with Dr. Gray, who will be doing more blood work & palpitating her!!! He will know if everything feels right in there!!!! We also gave her some ulcer guard tonight & stopped the RedCell for now. Reno will also be at the Vets for gelding!!!! but that is another story!!!!! It was such a beautiful day!!!! Hope you had a nice day too!!!

You are looking good Lydia! Holly shared her Lovie & let Lydia take Lovie for a round of jumping!!!! Thanks Holly!Kayla is taking Josh for her round of jumping, & she is quite the rider too!!! AND she got a ribbon!! WHOOOHOOOOOOOO! Lindsy says to me as they're coming out of the arena; Grandma, I did Good!!!!!Bonnie put Blue ribbons in all the Safe Haven horse's manes, so people would know that they were all rescued horses!!!
