Hilton Hotel....Octoberfest!!!! Concord, Ca.

October fest!!!! The Hilton Hotel in Concord Ca. put on an October fest fundraiser for Safe Haven Horses Rescue! They are all ready planning one for next year for Safe Haven! We are so looking forward to that! We all had so much fun & were helping the horses! Safe Haven took this opportunity to give recognition to a wonderful group of supporters called Fans of Barbaro......they have given much to help us help horses! This board reflects their 'mission' statement & their reason for forming the FOB's.......& their love for Barbaro! Pictured on the board are some of the horses they have helped at Safe Haven. Delta Dawn, Josh, Drifter, Barbie, & Charley are featured on this board. The 'ROCKIN" FOB's' are always willing to lend a helping hand for any type of horse! Thank You All! This is Jess, in the blue, & she is the driving force behind this fundraiser! She has also adopted 5 of Safe Haven's horses!!! She is quite the gal. She & all her friends worked the dinner for Safe Haven. Thank You to all of you too!!!

The patio was set up so nicely, tables to eat at, balloons, lanterns, & lot's of choices of beer to sample!!!!!

Mr. & Mrs. Madrical were there to help out too! Dave & Cori, with Samantha & Melissa drove down to the dinner also. Cori worked very hard to present a very nice slide show of Safe Haven horses & made the info/raffle table just perfect!

Judy M. is checking out all the items on the table. Safe Haven also brought a board on the Hind Foundation, which is hanging on the wall here, the full pic of it is on Cori's camera, & we still have to process those. Lisa L. contacted the Hind Foundation, did all the paperwork w/ Linda R. & Safe Haven was awarded their first grant! The monies were for safe enclosures for the horses! Thank You, Mr. & Mrs. Hind!

These two pretty girls did a wonderful job.......they were explaining all about the beer we were sampling at their table.

OK this ham had to get in on the pics too! that's me, Linda C.The Hilton Hotel, had live music for all the festivities too! They played a wide variety of music & were very good.

Everybody gave Safe Haven so much support, they bought raffle tickets, bid on the silent auction, & paid a cover charge for the October fest!!!! Lot's of support! Thank You All!

Jess, & her pal 'manned' the silent auction table & had saddles to jewelry to bid on! Good Job!Safe Haven met a very nice gentleman, at the dinner, he was very supportive of the horses. Michan is helping Linda R. announce the winner's of the silent auction & the raffles! Thank You Michan! You rock!


Michan, & his banker Johnnie, won a bunch of the gifts offered at the dinner & most of the ones Michan won he donated back to Safe Haven!!!! Thank You Michan! I had a wonderful time trying to out bid Michan on some of the items........I'd write done a bid..he'd start fussing ......& then he would add a bigger bid!!! We went around the table a couple of times.....he was so much fun!!

Johnnie from the US Bank, won a few things too!

This couple won at the silent auction too! & they bought raffle tickets too! Thank You for the support! This lucky gal won two head stalls for her horses!!! I think it's safe to say...she's a happy camper!



A pair of reins were won by this gal! She looks happy too!!!

Safe Haven Horse Rescue would like for you all to know just how much your support means to us. We are totally a donation supported rescue & appreciate the love & support you all send to the horses! SO,WITH ALL THE LOVE FROM THE BOTTOMS OF OUR HEARTS, WE THANK YOU ALL!

Handsome *Charley*!!!!!!

Look at that handsome face!!!!!!!!! This is *Charley* he is the most photogenic horse Safe Haven has. Charley was in So. California, & his owner just couldn't afford to feed him anymore...So... the Rockin' FOB's came 'riding to the rescue' once again!!!!!! They all pitched in & raised the monies for his transport...........shortly after his arrival, we got to know; Lynne B. & Lisa L. & lot's of the 'Rockin' FOB's' on the Alex Brown Racing Forum!!!!! They have helped Charley, Josh, Barbie, Drifter, Beauty, &&& who knows who's else to come!
Will keep ya posted on that!

Delta Dawn gets a her feet trimmed!!!!!!

Our awesome Delta Dawn had her feet trimmed by our farrier, Cody Brawley, today! She was very good! This is Delta Dawn's bad leg & Cody is having a heck stretching it out to put it on the stand :(

She just couldn't hold it there for long, so Cody is letting her rest.

Cody did get her foot to stretch out forward to finish her foot........as Cody was doing this....he had to hold Delta Dawn up! She is actually leaning her weight on him!

Our volunteer Lou, is giving her much deserved pets, & lovin's too. Cody is pretty sure that her bad leg is fused at the ankle.

Delta Dawn seemed to be ever so grateful to have her "hoofacure". She enjoyed the rest of her afternoon browsing around the breeze way!

Trail Ride @ Safe Haven Horse Rescue!!!!!!

Sunday, Oct. 25th 2009........Safe Haven Horse Rescue's volunteers went on a trail ride!!!!!!!! We had a blast.....& plan on doing that more often! Bonnie says we need to do that cuz we all work so hard for the horses, that we must reap some benefits! This is Bonnie, on Grady, a QH...he is up for adoption, he did very well on the trail. Bonnie is waiting for all us amateurs to get it together!!!! Tracey is on her adopted Appy...... Bailey......who was saved from slaughter by Shirley Puga. Tracey loves her Bailey & vice versa....they are a pair! Tracey is giving Bailey a lesson in patience....by making her stand quietly while we all are getting it together.

Debbie is on the paint, Leo. She wanted to ride Charley, but his right front foot was hurting that day so Leo was happy to fill in! Lydia is on Gracie,a fleabitten Arabian mare......she is being schooled too! She likes to do things her way....so my Lydia has her hands full w/ her at times!
That is Ashley on Drifter......the horse that came in needing an eye removed, as it had collapsed in it's socket, for God only knows how long :/ The FOB's (Fans of Barbaro) came riding to the rescue, & helped to raise the funds needed for his surgery.......they are currently helping with Delta Dawn too.

Oh Dear :/ this is me, Linda C. on Red....he's a QH & is one of the lesson horses for Safe Haven & he is a Musher......that means he only gets the mush to eat as he doesn't have enough teeth to eat hay. He is having a snack while we're waiting to go.
Christopher is on Saber, a very nice lesson horse for Safe Haven.......and is happy to carry the water in the lavender saddle pack!

Lydia took this pic as you can just see Gracie's ear there in the bottom left of the pic. Chris & Ashley are quietly waiting.

This is a nice picture of Debbie on Leo....look at that smile!!! I think they call that ear to ear!!!

OK!!! We're RIDING.......as Lynne says...."Wheeeeeeeee" We have crossed the creek, & are heading out into the abyss!!!! Bonnie & Lydia leading the way. Ashley on Drifter, Cori on CJ (Linda R's breeding stock paint mare)(who will never be bred!) Ryan is on Romeo, a reg QH gelding, who is also up for adoption. He is very sweet & handsome guy! Both of them are!I'm riding along side of Ryan....we're just getting in the ahaaaaaaa...moments of the benefits of riding a horse!Wow! Look at those three Amigos!!!!!!! Going along quite nicely!

Ryan is relaxing.....good job! Look at that 'baby doll head' on Romeo.......he's handsome!

I love this pic of that ole tree.....it looks like it was struck by lightening sometime! Ashley & Drifter made it into the pretty pic too!
This is last pic of our ride......we all had such a fun time :) We are on the way home & of course the horses know that.....& good ole Red wanted to jog :/.......& good ole me didn't!!!!! So I was too busy to take any more pics! LOL!What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! I recommend it highly! Bonnie promises to get us out there again SOON! Here's our Pretty Girl w/ her so flashy, red halter on! Delta Dawn posed for this pic on Sunday, Oct.25th, 2009. She is still severely under weight....... BUT.....she makin' some progress! Linda R. is not happy w/ the way she still looks, as she thinks she should be a little father along than she is. There is some weight gain & I think, that Linda R. sees her every day, so it's hard for her to judge. This is one of the original pictures posted of Delta Dawn, when Linda R. was giving her a betadine bath,right after she arrived at Safe Haven Horse Rescue.

Minime pics!!!!!!

Little Minime was born on Tues. Oct. 6th a little before noon. She is laying down w/ Mom, Tootsie for the first time. She got her front legs to bend....but the back legs are giving her some trouble!!!!Butt.....still in the air!!!!!

Time for some nourishment!

Tootsie wasn't feeling too well, after delivering Minime....so Linda R. called Dr. Art, he recommended some banamine. Linda is checking Tootsie for 'gut sounds' & was ok w/ the results. Tootsie was feeling lot's better in a few more minutes.Tootsie & Minime are having a chat.

For the first few days, this is how we 'transported' little Minime!!!!! This is Linda R's hubby Rick!On Saturday!!!!! Little Minime followed her Mom, Toosie, to their nitey-nite stall, all by herself!!
The 'village' of volunteers, all helped to 'weather proof' the stall for these two little beauties! They will be 'out' of the weather!!, w/ lot's of shavings!!
