Is it going to rain on us, Cayenne?

This is the sky at Safe Haven Horse Rescue, when we went to feed the horses on Wednesday afternoon! We could hear Thunder a ways off ! Linda R. was over at Vieva's house & was caught in a hail storm on the way home! She said she was afraid that it would break her windshield it was so intense!!!! Thank goodness it didn't! I was at the barn & took this pic, & then we go over to say hi to Cayenne!
She's so friendly, she comes right over to say Hi! Got Treats???? As she was walking over, I notice, that she is starting to shed her baby coat........she looks like a raccoon around the eyes!!!!
So here's a close up!!!!! Looks as if her name will still fit when she gets her summer coat!!!!!
Guess you can actually see the difference better on her nose!!!! Going from fuzzy wuzzy to slick & smooth!
This pic is for a VERY SPECIAL LADY who LOVES to GIVE the HORSES; 'SKRITCHES' so, there you go Lynn, this is for YOU!!!!
Cayenne, said that she just loved those special 'skritches' from you!!!! & wants to thank you for putting her & the other Safe Haven horses on the ABR board!!! (Alex Brown Racing Forum, where the Rocking FOB's, Fans of Barbaro, do wonderful helping of horses all around the world!)
They help out Safe Haven Horse Rescue a bunch!!!! THANK YOU ALL! "]
Bye for now,
Linda C.
PS. We manage to feed & NOT get rained on!!!! SWEET!!!!

Pipi's first couple of weeks at Safe Haven.......

Pipi, has arrived at Safe Haven Horse Rescue, & is in her new pen. She's cute & a chunky monkey!!! Nice markings, cutie pie face!
The first Saturday, that Pipi was with us, Lydia decided to groom her up some & get to know her. Bonnie had Lydia cross tie her as she was being kind of antsy. She did real good after that.
Lydia didn't really want her picture taken, but for Grandma, she hammed it up!!! Thank You, Lydia! Lydia then decided to work her some in the round pen, she had Pipi do a few maneuvers, & was happy with her performance, & then..................it was ...........PLAY TIME!!!..........& they played..............
TAG! YOU'RE IT!!!!!!!!! Lydia had just reached back & touched Pipi on her chest & took off running & now Pipi reaches out to TAG her back!!!!! How cute is that????
Bonnie let Pipi settle in for a few weeks & then, she saddled her up & rode her to see; what she does well, what she needs to fix, what she thinks her problems are, etc.........Pipi did pretty good, but in this pic, she does not really want to back up!!! She will eventually!
OK, last Sunday, was so WARM & Beautiful that lot's of the horses got a bath, & Pipi was one of them! She did very well with that too & then she decided that it was alot of FUN & joined right in..............she says;..............
Gosh that feels so good, would you rinse out my lips & nose!!!!! TOO CUTE!!!!
Everyone is having a lot of fun with Pipi. Just getting to know her & give her Love, Hugs, Treats & Care without any pressure on her just, bunches of; LOVING CARE!!!! She is becoming quite the FAV! Thanks to Michael, Cindi, & Rachel, for sharing their pics with me & my pics for this blog!!!! We ARE a village!!!!!

Friday afternoon

Friday afternoon was warm & sunny, & perfect for napping. That's what little Cayenne thought anyway. Little Oreo thought it was just perfect for some ear nipping & some mane chewing!!!
Cayenne was laying down Right next to the fence, (of course) in her pen, & that gave Oreo the opportunity to say, Whatcha doin'??? How does your ear & mane taste???? Mom Ginger just realized, that I was there & it was a Photo Op!!!!! Here she comes!!!!! Actually in her mind she is hoping for a Carrot OP!!!!!
Ginger has come such a long way, since she has been at Safe Haven Horse Rescue! She was headed to slaughter, & not even halter broke when she arrived!!!! Thanks to the Equine Angel, Shirley Puga, who saved her from the kill pen in Nevada, she has the chance to know that humans Can be a Good thing!!!
I really like Ginger, she always comes over to say Hi! She let's us handle Cayenne, & doesn't fuss at us for doing that. She can be a little pushy at feeding time, but we are working on that two!!! She's so pretty!!!!! Ginger will be happy to meet you too, & will gladly accept any & all treats that you bring for her!!! Hope to see you soon!!!
Bye for now,
Linda C.

Safe Haven Horse Rescue's booth at Hawes Ranch & Farm in Anderson Ca. on Deschutes Rd. for their Tack Swap!! Safe Haven's booth looks pretty darn nice!!!!!
Oh Dang, Melissa...didn't realize that tag was in front of your face!!!!! Darn It! Cori & Melissa, helped Linda R set up the booth, & me, & Lydia came in about 11:30 to relieve them & help out Linda R. The gal in purple in the background was Very Nice, & she forgot her shade cover, & we shared ours w/ her, & we had fun just chatting in between customers, & she will be donating one of her very pretty necklaces to Safe Haven, for the silent auction at the Horse Expo in June!!!!! THANK YOU, DUSTY, from K bar D Designs!!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!! "] She's thinking of going to the Horse Expo, as she has never been!!!!
The SweetPro Rep was at Hawes too, & he shared lot's of info about the EquiPride & EquiLix products that they sell. The EquiPride is a very favorite supplement of Safe Havens. The Rep said that it just works Wonders on horses, especially the ones w/ navicular, as it really increases the blood circulation to the feet, Linda R. got a cd & a booklet on the supplement & I will be back to share w/ you, what I learn. He also gave Safe Haven, the bucket of EquiPride that he opened to show & give samples from. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! Dusty said she had her little filly on it too, & is a believer in it!!!!! So all in all we had a very good day!!! THANK YOU, HAWES RANCH & FARM!!!! Thank You to Barbara B. for letting Safe Haven know about the event!!!!
Bye for now,
Linda C.

Sessie & Saber, on Friday afternoon................

Sessie, in her pretty blue fly sheet, was out to graze in the 'fake hot wire' fenced pasture. She was over to see Flower. Then she decided to graze over by the tree, close to Saber's pen!
& the grass, just outside of Saber's pen, that he can't reach!!! Looked especially sweet, so she was there & Sabers saying hi there! Who are you??? Have we met before??? Helloooooooo.......
Sessie, being the polite mare, that she is, stopped grazing & said Hello to Saber. She must have liked his looks as..........
they did little nose to nose 'breathing' Saber was quite impressed & wanted Sessie to stay & play, but she add other plans, & decided to 'move on'...........Saber didn't think she should go &.............
tried to stop her by.........................GRABBING A MOUTHFUL OF HER FLY SHEET!!!!! I'm sure he was saying nnneow wait a 'inute (couldn't say the M as his mouth was FULL!!!!!) don't go!!
Saber let go of the fly sheet cuz Sessie did NOT STOP, & he didn't want to lose his front teeth!!! Linda R. showed up at his pen, right after that, & I showed her the pic, I had just got. Saber came over to me...................& said DID YOU REALLY HAVE TO SHOW HER THAT?????? You know she thinks, I ate my blanket, & that sponsor's pretty BANNER!!!! & now she has proof!!!! Good God! Woman!!! I am seriously upset w/ YOU!!!!!
Cheeze, Saber, don't look at me like that!!!! Linda knows you ATE your blanket! Remember? you still had it ON, when it was tore to shreds!!!!! &&& the banner was on your PEN in shreds, my Dear Boy, && YOU were the only horse around!!!!!! SO! IF THE HORSESHOE........... Oreo & Cayenne

Oreo, would like a carrot???? It's a small carrot just for you!!! Lindsy took carrots around to ALL the horses, & had some little ones for the babies! Hope she is watching those precious fingers of hers!!! Oreo didn't really know what to do with that treat!!!
It was going to rain again, so blankets went back on & Tracey is showing Cayenne, her baby blankey. She says here, smell this, so you know it's not a horsey killer!!! Tracey showed Great Patience, while getting the blanket on Cayenne! She did not use a halter & lead rope, just patience & perseverance!
OK! got you now!! Last time Tracey put the blanket on her, she was just fine w/ it, but this time, she needed some persuasion!!!
& here we have; SUCCESS!!! She looks so Good in blue! Ginger all most didn't have a chance to give birth to this little bundle of joy, as she was headed to slaughter!!!! Thank God for Shirley Puga!!! Shirley saved her, along with a bunch of other horses from the Fallon NV. feed lot!
THANK YOU SHIRLEY!!!! Thank you for doing what you do!!!!! YOU ROCK!!!!! We also have Dreamer & Reno, who are now yearlings, & they along w/ their Moms were saved from slaughter also. I think we have had 7 horses, Shirley has saved. I'll check w/ Linda R. & get back to you on that if it's different!

Sessie meets Shady Lady, &............a SURPRISE!

What a gorgeous picture! Sessie looks so REGAL! I think Shady Lady might feel a little intimidated! Thank You to Michael K. Photography for sharing, his awesome pictures! So, after the 'hello's'..........Sessie did some
romping in the arena! Great shot......all four...........off the ground!!!! She's all most done shedding out too. In the front anyway! Now, get ready for a SURPRISE!!!!!............................
Yup!, that is Holly on Sessie!!! Bonnie lead them around the arena at first to see what Sessie would do, & Voila! she was just AWESOME!!!!
Holly & Bonnie took Sessie for two trips around the arena, & then Holly got off, as she did not want to make her back sore.
Sessie is doing so well these days. No fever, & is PACKING on the POUNDS, since the 'power pack' wormer!!! Holly is going to take a 'sample' back to the Vet's & check to make sure we have finally got all the worms out of her! Holly is going to adopt Sessie, when she is all better, & has a 20 year plan for her!!! Holly adopted Lovie, who came to Safe Haven in the same shape as Sessie. I hope they will have the same bond, that Holly & Lovie have. I've got to GO to work!!!
Bye for now,
Linda C.

Cannonball..says................ WHAT!!!

Cannonball, is using the arena as a pen, as Safe Haven Horse Rescue is pretty darn full! Cannonball does think that the ENTIRE arena is HIS PEN! This is how he feels about Linda R. putting Dreamer in the arena!!!! Not too happy!!!! & he is on the left side of the arena........well not for long anyway!!!!!
Oh my, Cannonball is now all the way across the arena, as he has charged after Dreamer!!!! Linda R. shouted at him to behave himself, & this is the innocent face he turned around with, & he says WHAT???? You must NOT be talking to Me! I have to keep this youngster in her place!!!!
So, Dreamer took a step towards Cannonball & she gets the 'flattened ear' warning! Linda R. says Cannonball! Don't do it!
Cannonball.......goes..............WHAT????? I'm right here, ears are up & forward, aren't I, just the cutest???? Well....it went straight down hill in two seconds flat!!!!!!
& now you can see, why Linda R. was fussing at Cannonball!!!!! He's down right gonna tear up little Miss Dreamer!!!!! Such a bad bad boy!!!! & then..................Cannonball...............goes..........
WHAT?????? I'm not doing any thing!!!! See my ears are up & forward!!!!!! He is such a character!!! Cannonball is about 27 years old & can be a little stubborn every now & then, but the kids LOVE him.
He also has Cushings..........that's why he is so FUZZY! He is a musher & Safe Haven puts the Equi-Pride supplement in his nightly mush. It does wonders for Cushings, & we'll let you know, what we think after a few more weeks too. We are going to have to body clip him, so he doesn't roast over the summer!!!!! That should be a fun time had by all!!!!
Bye for now,
Linda C.

Sessie,,,,rollin' & rompin'

Sessie was out in the arena 2 Saturdays ago, & she looks to me, as if she is deciding just what to do! SO! This is what she does!!!!!
She finds THE PERFECT PLACE to;
ROLL..............AWE.........she says ; that feels good!!!!
So after her SPA TREATMENT, she gave herself a good ole shake &&&& then..................
It was YEEEEEHAAAAWWW.............I FEEL GOOD!!!
Tried to crow hop here, but then decided maybe later, as this one wasn't so impressive!!!!!
And finally she said, OK, I think that is enough for today!!!!!! & Candy get away from my pen!!!!
Sessie is looking sooo much better & is feeling sooooo much better! The 'power pack' wormer has done wonders for her!!!! We are still working on getting some donated grain, THANK YOU FOB's! from Mt. Pleasant Texas to us in Cottonwood, Ca. Linda R. has e-mailed the gentleman, Dale, who has developed this grain & is waiting to hear back from him. What Safe Haven needs to know is the zip code, so the uship place can give us a quote on the shipping costs!!!! We will check further into that tomorrow...& I will post it for you all!
Bye for now,
Linda C.
PS. Big THANK YOU to Michael K. Photography for sharing his pictures! THANKS!
