Lindsy & Song

Lindsy is having her first ride alone, on our most wonderful Song :)Song is 30+ in age & is the sweetest li'l gal. Song was born w/ a vertebrae missing in her back, but that does not slow her down, it just makes her back leg position look a little off. She is also a "musher" which means she does not have enough teeth to eat hay, so she is quite happy to have her mush 2x's a day. We have started Candy (the one w/ moon blindness) on the mush too. Linda's mush mixture is a life saver for these horses, it helps them to regain the weight they need, when they come in emaciated. We start them off slow w/ the mixture & after a week or so, we can increase the amount of the pellets we put in there for them. All the horses LOVE their mush!! We have 5 horses solely on mush, & they are all fat & sassy :)
Lindsy is my 3+yr. old G/daughter :] We were in the round pen for Lindsy to have her ride on Song. Wish you could see the smile on that face!!! Lydia (my 15yo G/daughter & Lindsy went & got Song out of her pen, Lyd put the halter on & then let Lindsy lead her to the hitching posts, Lindsy says to Lydia, "Sissy I'm a big girl now huh?" How cute is that?
In this day & age, we at Safe Haven are so blessed to have such a wonderful place to share w/ the younger generation. They learn so much, & are having fun while doin' all the chores it takes to keep up the horses. What more can ya ask for?
Bye for now,
Linda C.
